Microblading in Woodridge: What to Know Before Your First Appointment
If you fill in your brows every morning, you have probably searched "microblading near me" at least once. Microblading is the most requested service at our Woodridge studio — and the most misunderstood. This guide answers the questions every client asks before booking: what microblading actually is, who it suits, what the appointment is like, how it heals, how long it lasts, and what it costs.
What microblading is
Microblading is a form of permanent makeup that creates fine, hair-like strokes in the brow area. A trained artist uses a handheld tool to place pigment in the skin in strokes that mimic natural brow hairs, building shape and fullness one stroke at a time.
The result is brows that look like brows — not like makeup. Done well, nobody can tell where your natural hairs end and the strokes begin. That is the whole point: you wake up with brows that already look done, with no pencil, no powder, and no morning routine.
Microblading is semi-permanent. The pigment sits in the upper layers of the skin and softens gradually over time, which is exactly why it looks natural — and why it needs a color boost every couple of years rather than lasting forever.
Who microblading is for
Microblading is a great fit if you:
• have sparse, thin, or overplucked brows
• want the most natural, hair-stroke look available
• have normal to dry skin
• are tired of filling your brows in every morning
• want a shape that is mapped to your face, not a stencil
It is less suited to very oily skin, where fine strokes can soften faster — if that is you, nano brows or powder brows may be the better technique, and an honest consultation will tell you which. That is why every microblading appointment at our studio starts with a consultation and a shape mapped to your face before anything begins.
Microblading vs. powder brows vs. nano brows vs. combo brows
These are the four brow techniques we offer, and the difference is the finish:
• Microblading — fine hair-like strokes. The most natural, realistic look. Best for normal to dry skin.
• Powder brows — soft shading, like perfectly applied brow makeup. A lighter, diffused front with a defined shape. Suits every skin type, including oily skin.
• Nano brows — hair-like strokes made with a PMU machine and an ultra-fine needle, instead of a handheld tool. The most precise technique, and the answer when your skin is not suited to microblading.
• Combo brows — strokes at the front of the brow blended into soft shading through the tail. The best of both: texture where you need it, fullness where you need it.
If you are deciding between them, book a complimentary consultation. We will look at your skin, your natural brows, and the look you want, and tell you honestly which technique fits — including telling you when microblading is not the right choice.
What happens at your appointment
Consultation and mapping. We talk first — what you want, what you don't want, what suits your face. Then your brow shape is measured and drawn on, and you approve it before anything begins. Nothing is permanent until you have seen the shape on your own face and said yes.
Numbing. Numbing keeps the procedure comfortable throughout.
The strokes. The artist builds the brows stroke by stroke, checking shape and density as she goes. You are not rushed; the shape is the work.
Aftercare instructions. You leave with clear aftercare guidance for the healing days ahead. Follow it — how your brows heal is a large part of how they look.
The touch-up. A follow-up session in 6–8 weeks is optional but recommended. It is where the artist perfects the shape, fills any strokes that healed lighter than expected, and locks in the result.
Healing: what to expect
Healing is a process, not a single day. In the first days your brows will look darker and more defined than the healed result — that is normal, and it is temporary. Light flaking follows as the skin renews. Over the following weeks the color softens into its final tone.
The most common mistake is judging the result on day three. The brows you see in the mirror at the end of the first week are not the brows you will have in a month. Trust the process, follow the aftercare, and come back for the touch-up if anything needs perfecting.
How long does microblading last?
Results usually last 1–3 years, with 18–36 months being the most common timeframe for a color boost. Skin type, sun exposure, and skincare all play a role — oily skin and heavy sun tend to fade pigment faster. A color boost refreshes the shape and the color, and most clients book it when they notice the brows starting to soften.
How much does microblading cost?
$649 for the initial session, plus a $250 touch-up session in 6–8 weeks (optional).
The price is stated before you book, and the consultation is complimentary. If you are comparing studios, compare the whole picture — who does the work, how long they have done it, and what their healed results look like — not just the number.
Frequently asked questions
Does microblading hurt?
Numbing is used throughout the procedure, and most clients describe it as comfortable. Sensitivity varies, and we check in with you during the appointment.
How is microblading different from a regular tattoo?
Microblading pigment is placed in the upper layers of the skin and is designed to soften over time. A traditional tattoo goes deeper and is meant to be permanent. That difference is why microblading looks soft and natural — and why it needs a color boost every couple of years.
Can I wear makeup after microblading?
Follow the aftercare instructions you are given at the appointment. In general, keep the brow area clean and untouched while it heals, and hold off on brow makeup until the skin has settled.
What if I have had microblading or permanent makeup before?
Bring it to the consultation. Old work can often be worked with — and when it can't, our non-laser removal can lighten it first so you can start fresh.
I am not sure microblading is right for me. What should I do?
Book a complimentary consultation. You will leave knowing which technique fits your skin and your brows, whether that is microblading or something else. There is no pressure to book on the spot.
